Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners and children as adults. One in 5 high school girls report being physically assaulted and/or sexually abused by a dating partner. Fifty percent of girls who grow up in an abusive home will go on to be victims of abuse themselves. Domestic violence is the leading predictor of child abuse – 30% to 60% of perpetrators of intimate partner violence also abuse children in the household.
